Garden sketches– simplify, shapes, shades

Greetings – welcome to my new blog.

Last week I was at the Botanical Gardens. As you can imagine, there was so much to draw – it was very exciting.

Garden sketch

It was challenging drawing at the gardens, as there was a lot of details and textures. I have attempted to simplify and to capture the shapes and shades, with watercolour… Obviously there is lots of room for improvement – practice makes perfect.

Paint Party FridayHave a great weekend.

  8. Love these trees, I have been struggling with trees and recently decided it was because I put in too much detail. This is stunning. :)

  15. I think you did a wonderful job of simplifying. I have an awful lot of trouble with that. I get overwhelmed with all the detail and don't know what to put in and leave out.
